Happy Valentine’s day from the Prime Time staff to you.
Sandia National Laboratories is at the cutting edge of new green technology, and while we’ve seen the headlines in other local and national newspapers about the breakthroughs at Sandia, when we at Prime Time had the opportunity to delve into the details about the lab’s new Solid State Lighting research, we pounced. The scientists at Sandia are at the head of the pack in this national transition away from fossil fuels, and what better place to look for improvements in efficiency than that basic light bulb? The facts we discovered while composing this story – the tons of wasted energy and the costs into the billions – were frightening. But the future is, no pun intended, bright. We hope you enjoy the feature, and stay tuned because we will continue our coverage of the fascinating research being conducted right here in our own back yard.
Prime Time Facelift
By now you have probably noticed we have given Prime Time a new look. Frances White, our art director, has taken her paint brush to our book in collaboration with Nicholas Wilbur, our managing editor. I love their innovations and hope you do too. It is important to have a community that reflects the changing trends of its readers and clients. That is what we strive to do with each issue, and we hope you like the new look. We have also revamped our web site which and will feature several web-only stories, including advice columns, travel articles and other news. I invite you to take a tour at www.primetimemonthly.com
Here Comes Johnny!
This year we are having our 15th Annual 50+ Celebaration. This event was created in 1995 to bring our readers and clients together for food, fun and one-on-one visits. It is among the longest yearly events in town, and it has yet to lose its luster and appeal. Stryker, our sponsor, is bringing you baseball Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench as a special guest this year, and the professionals from the UNM Center for Life we be offering free consultations about the many classes and services they provide at their clinic, which is located behind Lovelace Women’s Hospital.
Putt Yourself to Hawaii
The 50+ Celebration is also going to have a Hole-In-One putting contest with a prize package for two people, for eight days, seven nights, airfare and hotel accommodations on the island of Oahu, valued at $3,000. Proceeds for the chance to win this trip will go to the YDI Foundation. Come visit me and all your other Prime Time friends. See announcement on page 6 of the printed version of Prime Time Monthly, or go to our events link.
